The biggest mountain bike race in North America is right in our backyard. There's nothing like the Iceman Cometh anywhere. Thousands of cyclists converge on Traverse City each fall to celebrate tough trails, top level competition and the love of the sport in unpredictable conditions.
The race makes Traverse City the cycling capital of the world for two days each year, with Friday's Ice Cycle Expo at the Grand Traverse Resort. The race comes Saturday with the pomp and circumstance of a victory parade on the streets of Kalkaska. The small town sends riders off for the 28 mile drag race to Traverse City and the finish at Timber Ridge.
