There are two Tours at the moment, and one is in our backyard! We've had an absolute blast putting on our weekly Speed of Light Ride, but the fun gets even bigger with our version of the greatest sporting events in the world. Our own Tour Competition is underway, with over 25 finishers on Stage One. Ryan Kennedy leads the race, and he has Einstein Racing teammates all over the top ten. It's a celebration of the French Grand Tour, and one of the most thrilling sporting events on the planet.
It's been a grueling first week at the Tour, with favorites Chris Froome and Alberto Contador now both out, and sprinter Mark Cavendish out almost as soon as the race began. Cycling is a beautiful but unforgiving sport, and perhaps no edition of le Grand Boucle has proven that the race does not care who you are or what you've won, every day is a new challenge.
But it's also a sport of tremendous heroism, nand AG2R's Blel Kadri certainly proved that this week. Stage 8 ended with a brutal and steep ascent to Mulhouse. Astride a FOCUS Izalco Max, he dropped is break mates to claim his first Tour stage in his career, and the second for the French team in the race.
Stage Two of our SOL Tour Competition begins this Thursday at 6.30pm. You can also catch us at the Vasa 25km Parking Lot at 6.45pm.
And for the weekend, don't forget about the Ride Around Torch. The classic tour goes around beautiful Torch Lake, with the start and finish in Elk Rapids. It's a very fun ride that is supported, with a number of well-stocked aid stations as well. You can find out all the details here. And if you're feeling really ambitious, the local killers are planning on doing the SUPER-RAT, which leaves Ec at 7.30am, rides to Elk Rapids for the start, does the 100 mile route AND heads back to TC. This one isn't for the faint of heart or weak of leg.
