The Coffee Ride: Giro Finale and A Rodeo

Summer is finally here, and as the shop gets busier, so do the chances to get out, ride, and enjoy the weather.

Another weekend in the books, and it was the sort of weekend that brings people from all over to Traverse City. If you forgot why you live here, or why you visit, over one of the most oppressive winters in memory, the last days of May were a very stern and welcome reminder that this is a special place to be.

Sunday capped off the Strava Challenge, and while Cody set the top time on Full E. Lincoln, Bryan Upcraft gets the prize for finishing 6th place. He'll grab an Ec water bottle for his efforts, and it's good timing, too. He's heading out for Ride the Rockies this week!

We're also very excited to hit the dramatic finale at our Speed of Light Giro Competition this Thursday, June 5. Our good pals at KEEN are celebrating by hosting a BBQ afterwards in the Vasa 25km Parking Lot, complete with food, beer and high-fives. It's a great way to wrap up the first Grand Tour of the year, and the first four Speed of Lights have seen over 200 people show up total!

Saturday is the Bike Safety Rodeo. Bring the kids down to learn about bike maintenance, some skill work, and the rules of the road! We're proud to have more than a few members of the team and the shop heading over to help out. It's a great community event, and one that is sure to be a fixture for years to come.

Saturday is also the Bike-In TC movie! Head to F&M Park for "The Goonies", one of the best movies of the 80's, and my personal favorite by Corey Feldman. There is never a bad time to see the Truffle Shuffle.

Finally, our Strava Segment Challenge of the Week is an homage to the M-22, which is coming up in another week! The segment is going to be the infamous Inspiration Point climb, and of course, the steep side. It's .7 miles and averages 9%, but hits over 12% a few times. The segment features at M-22, and often plays a big role in deciding who posts the top bike leg time.
