Hope springs eternal, and as the final days of February fly past, we eternally hope for spring. The signs of its coming are already here. Omloop Het Niewsblad is this weekend, the first Belgian classic of the spring. The sun is starting to actually work, melting the snow from the roads, at least partially. And the service department has begun checking in and tuning up bikes as we get ready for the open roads and melting trails.
The spring tune-up is one of the most exciting times of the year, because it's all possible. Your goals, your old rides, your new routes, they're all coming back on the table. Everyone has something in the back of their mind that they're looking to tackle in 2015; a new Speed of Light fastest time, crushing Inspiration Point, or just getting that Significant Other out on the trails a bit more than last year.
Personally, 2015 is the year the White Pine Trail Ride finally happens. For two years, I've been trying to figure out a way to ride from Ec to The BOB in downtown Grand Rapids. It's massive ride, but with decent weather and a nice tailwind, it could be done in a day without go full-on Lance. You can see the tentative route here.
What are your big targets in 2015, and what bike is going to get you there? Now's the time to get it ready, to get it better, and to make it perfect.
