Spring is in the air, the sun is out, and it's time to get dialed in on your ride. Jason Lowetz hopped on the Guru Dynamic Fit System this past week to make some adjustments to his position heading into a bust summer of Tuesday Night Rides and his famous rides around Torch Lake in the late hours of the day.
The ALine insole found some minimal leg discrepancies and it's an 'R' for Boss Man. Insoles are a great way to remedy any misaligned ankles or knees; those wonky angles can put undue stress on joints and make your pedaling weighted to one side of the body or the other. Our master fitter, Jason Whittaker, also did some cleat adjustments. Lowetz is a classic toe-pedaler, which can often be the result of riding too high of a saddle. As a result, there's a tendency to pedal on the toes to get more leg extension, and riders with inch their cleats forward to compensate.
Cleats back to a more powerful position, Boss Man did three separate captures to get started. The adjustments come orderly, measured and and quick. The ability to go through any seat height, stem length or rise, and more the seat fore and aft makes the fit realistic. Lowetz spent just over an hour on the bike, but never had to stop pedaling, come off the bike or stand around. It's much more realistic and the different fit positions over the three captures reflect an adaptation in the body as it starts to fatigue. The last fit was marginally more relaxed and upright compared to the first, which was a very aggressive position, just what you'd expect from a criterium specialist.
The final adjustments from the fit went into the hands of Dan, our service manager. Using the laser positioning, we put the X and Y coordinates into space and made some subtle changes to Lowetz' position. The end result was to lower the seat and bring in the stem, creating a less stretched and aggressive set-up suited for slightly longer efforts. The change did roll his hips back, which will make him that little bit more powerful on the climbs and under bigger loads in the saddle.
Schedule your fit to be more powerful and more comfortable this summer and fall!
