The perfect venue, the perfect unpredictable weather, the perfect course and the perfect time to test your legs. Crystal Cross is back on the schedule for 2014, bookending a great weekend of racing at Crystal Mountain Resort and Spa. Some of the fastest and coolest riders from the Midwest will be on hand for Saturday's Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic, an annual rite of passage as the state's attention turns squarely on the Iceman Cometh in November.
Crystal Cross caps off the weekend with three races, one for every type of rider. It all gets going at 10am, perfect timing to rock, roll and head home to relive the fun on the way to wherever you hang up your bike.
The action starts with the Men's B and Women's A races, both slated for 45 fast minutes, followed directly by the Men's C and Women's B race, which is 30 minutes. They'll have first go at the most popular course we've put together, with a few wrinkles tossed in to balance out the advantages of cyclocross and mountain bikes, both of which are completely welcome. Look for an additional run-up and a new, high-speed drag race section on pavement to shake-out the favorites each lap.
The race will feature awards and prizes, including great swag from Giro, Brew TC, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Buka Bike, Erg! Bars, Einstein Cycles and more.
Registration is open through USA Cycling. Racers can race any two events for just $30, or $35 day-of. Pre-registered riders will get a free Erg! energy bar.
