This Sunday, Jason Lowetz heads west for a week in Texas to pick off where his Upper Peninsula journey left off this past winter.
It'll be a matter of very different conditions but the same great company, with SuperFriends Ty and Jesse both making the trip south for the ride. Instead of sub-zero temperatures and driving snow storms, they'll be treated to warm weather, swimming holes and desert life.
As with the UP venture, there's no real route or plan; they will ride what they want to ride, stop where they want to stop, and call it a day whenever they feel good and tuckered out. There is certainly plenty to see, with roughly 300 miles on the docket to be taken at any pace desired. The rolling hill country of Central Texas should be a treat as it hits peak spring bloom.
For any adventure like this, it's always going to be a Salsa. Perhaps highlighting the bike's versatility, Lowetz is taking the same Salsa Spearfish RS-1 that Jason Whittaker rode at the Iceman Cometh last fall. Armed with Revelate Designs frame and seat packs, the rig hauls the essentials for four long days in the saddle in the hot Texas sun.
