Great news, Einsteinians! The 3rd Annual New Year's Day Ride is back to kick off 2014.
We're pretty jazzed about the ride, and we'll try to take on a solid route that includes all sorts of the terrain that makes fat biking so much fun. We'll take a run at the singletrack, some great dirt roads and two tracks, and a ceremonial lap around Timber Ridge. Every is invited to brave the 2-3 hour adventure, with a few regroups, and chances to head back and make the ride a bit shorter.
Last year, the spirit of adventure was leaned on heavily. In spite of hours and hours of walking and snowshoeing, a big snowstorm dumped on NYE, making some long stretches of the route almost impossible for anything but the biggest tires. For those that soldiered on, it was well-worth the efforts when the group busted onto some snowmobile trails that made the riding absolutely stellar. Over 50 folks showed up, with the bulk of them taking on the long, grueling four hour ride.
The numbers are the numbers, but contrary to the totals, this was a ride with a lot of fun and great memories. You can see the full details on Strava here.
